Pickling of Gas Pipelines

SAFETY FIRST! Newly installed steel gas pipelines should be pickled prior to being put in service in order to prevent odor-fade and deliver odorized gas to end-users.

Odor fade is caused by odorants reacting with rust and mill scale inside new steel pipes, thereby producing less odorous products.
