Pickling of Gas Pipelines
SAFETY FIRST! Newly installed steel gas pipelines should be pickled prior to being put in service in order to prevent odor-fade and deliver odorized gas to end-users.
Odor fade is caused by odorants reacting with rust and mill scale inside new steel pipes, thereby producing less odorous products.
Committed to Safety
• Design of pickling strategy
• Installation of temporary odorization skid
• Optional enclosure in marine container
• Line flaring
• Odorant injection
- Slugging
- Continuous controlled injection of odorant using a temporary odorizer
• Process monitoring
• Data collection
• Odorant dosage adjustment
• Odorant concentration measurement (Dräger, GC, Odorator)
